Dr. R S Sethi assumed the positions of Additional Director of Research at Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, Ludhiana in March 2022 and Dean of Dairy Science and Technology in November 2022. Joining as an Assistant Professor in 1997, he steadily rose through the ranks, becoming a full Professor in 2012. In 2018, he became the founding Head of the Department of Animal Biotechnology. Dr. Sethi is recognized as an exceptional teacher, receiving the Best Teacher Award in 2018. He has conducted extensive research, managing 11 projects, focusing on airway hyper-responsiveness, lung inflammation due to environmental pollutants, and single-cell transcriptome and proteome characterization during host-pathogen interactions. Dr. Sethi has actively engaged in international collaborations, including participation in the World Veterinary Association's Global Quality Standards for Veterinary Education project and leadership as the CREATE program's Project Coordinator on Genome Editing for Food Security and Environment Sustainability. He has also been involved in the twinning of Veterinary Programs at Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University and the University of Calgary, funded by the OIE. Dr. Sethi has received several awards and honors for his scholarly achievements, such as Fellow of the Indian Association of Veterinary Anatomist and the Best Veterinarian - Punjab Award.
