Since September 2020, Dr. Parkash Singh Brar has been serving as the Director of Extension Education at the University. Prior to taking on this role, he held various positions within the University, including Dean of the College of Veterinary Science, Director of Livestock Farms, Director of the Center for Advanced Faculty Training, and Head of the Department of Veterinary Gynaecology and Obstetrics. He earned/handled 27 research projects, including three funded by International Atomic Energy Agency, Vienna and One by World Organization for Animal Health (OIE). He has vast national and international experience and travelled to 12 countries in various capacities and imparted training to fellows from Bangladesh, Myanmar, Mongolia, Tanzania, Canada etc apart from an international training in which 16 participants from 12 countries participated. Technologies developed/validated by him such as production of urea molasses multi-nutrient blocks by farm friendly easily adoptable cold method, oestrus synchronization protocols to improve fertility in suboestrus buffaloes, supplementation of ionophores to hasten onset of puberty and improve offseason fertility in buffaloes, use of colour Doppler to predict fate of follicle/corpus luteum and artificial insemination remain popular among farmers and veterinarians. He remained extensively involved in extending technologies to the end users (Veterinarians, farmers etc.) though pilot projects, literature, field days etc. In collaboration with Foreign Universities, he played important role in capacity building of students and teachers of the University. He has immense involvement in enhancing reproductive efficiency and genetic potential of dairy animals in the state through research, production and provision of superior quality germplasm to farmers and spreading awareness among the farmers.
