Dr. Prabjeet Singh joined as Deputy Director (Training), Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Tarn Taran, Guru Angd Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, Ludhiana on 15th January, 2024. He obtained his Bachelor’s degree (B.F.Sc) from G.B.Pant University of Agriculture and Technology, Pantnagar-Uttrakhand in year 2002, Masters in Fisheries Science (M.F.Sc) from Shere-e-Kashmir University of Agriculture and Technology, Kashmir (SKUAST-K) and Ph.D in Fisheries Resource Management from G.B.P.U.A&T, Uttarakhand. He was recipient of the meritorious Maulana Azad National Fellowship (MANF) during his Ph.D degree. With his dynamic research aptitude and extension skills, he played a significant role in developing aquaculture in salt affected waterlogged waste lands of South West Punjab through standardization, validation, demonstration and replication of technology for shrimp (Penaeus vannamei) farming in Inland Saline water. His technical hand holding of the shrimp farmers of Punjab has made a significant socio-economic impact, involving economic utilisation of zero earning lands, leading to socio-economic development of debt-ridden rural communities. Dr. Singh is a recipient of several national and international fellowships and awards. He was awarded “Visiting Researcher Fellowship” by International Centre of Excellence in Seafood Science and Innovation (ICE-SSI), Faculty of Agro-Industry, Prince of Songkla University, Hat Yai, Thailand in year 2022 and IDP-NAHEP International Fellowship in year 2023. Besides this he has received fellowships from reputed National Societies and various awards like Young Scientist Award, Best Researcher Award and excellence in review awards. Dr Singh has handled 8 research projects as PI and Co-PI. Dr. Singh has authored around 38 research publications in high impact peer reviewed journals with an H-Index-10 and around 833 citations, 25 conference papers, 35 extension articles, 3 book chapters, 3 theory/practical manuals and handled around 8 UG courses and 9 PG courses. He has guided 3 PG students and 1 Ph.D student as a major advisor and 10 as Co-guide. As a dynamic extension worker Dr. Singh has delivered 25 TV/Radio talks, delivered 85 extension lectures, conducted 8 technology demonstration camps, coordinated 25 farmers meetings, organised 23 awareness camps and 10 farmers training programmes. He was recently been nominated to receive “Best Teachers Award” of the College of Fisheries for the year 2023. Dr Singh also a sitting member of the editorial board of many journals besides serving a potential reviewer of several high impact journals.
