Dr Parminder Singh joined as Additional Director of Extension Education on 3rd May 2024. Before joining, he was working as Professor Animal Science (Extension) in the Directorate of Extension Education since April 2022. He also served as Associate Director KVK SAS Nagar Mohali from November 2020 to October 2021 and Principal Scientist in the Department of Animal Nutrition from October 2020 to March 2021. After completing M.Sc. in Animal Nutrition from PAU, Ludhiana in 1992, he served briefly in M/s Pfizer Ltd. Mumbai before joining PAU as Assistant Professor Animal Science Extension (Nutrition) in March 1993. He completed PhD in Animal Nutrition as an in-service candidate in 2003. He was promoted to Associate Professor and Professor Animal Science Extension (Nutrition) in 2003 and 2009 respectively and served Department of Veterinary & AH Extension Education till November 2020. He has taught around 58 UG & PG courses in Animal Nutrition and Veterinary & Animal Husbandry Extension Education. He has guided 7 MVSc & 2 PhD students. He has published 11 manuals and acted as external examiner for various UG, PG courses and selection of candidates. He has handled 7 research projects (3 as PI and 4 as Co PI). He has published 62 research articles and three books. He has participated in 29 National and International conferences. He has more than 300 popular articles to his credit. He has given more than 1000 expert lectures to farmers, 185 invited lectures by different developing agencies. He has delivered 26 radio and 22 TV talks. He has organized around 70 farmer’s trainings. He has coordinated 32 feed manufacturing courses conducted by university and dairy development Punjab. He is coordinating Dairy, Layer and Broiler Farmer’s meet at the university campus. He also coordinates Pashu Palan Mela being held twice a year in the university. He is member of several professional societies and presently serving as Treasurer of Animal Nutrition Society of India. He has won best poster and oral presentation awards. He was bestowed by CLFMA Achievement Award 2016, ANSI Best Extensionist Award 2022 and Fellow of ANSI 2024. Besides academics, he remained involved in sports activities. He was captain of the PAU University Cricket Team for the session 1985-86 and remained on the panel of Punjab Cricket Association as qualified umpire.
