Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, Booh, Tarn Taran organised “Kisan Mela 2016”. Kisan Mela celebration was organized at the newly upcoming Administrative Block Building of the Krishi Vigyan Kendra at Booh, Tarn Taran. An enormous response from a large gathering of farmers of the district Tarn Taran was the main highlight of the Day. Kisan mela was inaugurated by Sardar Ajaypal Singh Mirankot, Chairman, Punjab State Civil Supplies Corporation. Ltd. (PUNSUP) Chandigarh, who was the Chief Guest at the Kisan Mela-2016. Theme of the Kisan Mela 2016 chosen was, “faslan dee kaasht, faslee vibinta aate kudrati somian daa rakh rakhao.” 
Chief Guest along with Dr. Prahlad Singh, Associate Director (Professor) and the dignitaries took around an Extensive Exhibition highlighting the activities organized by the KVK during 2015-16. Various exhibits and stalls were put by different departments and private sector companies in agriculture, livestock, agricultural Engineering, etc. They displayed and supplied information though informative and useful literature and charts, to the farmers visiting them. Various guest faculty speakers from different line departments – FASS, PAU; Punjab Dairy Development Board; Agricultural Department; Horticulture Department; KVK Ferozepur; KVK Moga; graced the occasion with their valuable lectures for the farmers.
Speaking at the inaugural session Dr. Prahlad Singh, welcomed the Chief Guest and highlighted the mandate and activities of the Krishi Vigyan Kendra. The Kisan Mela was useful in dissipating the information on Agriculture, Livestock, and other allied fields to the farmers through the invited experts and speakers from respective fields. Theme of the Kisan Mela and discussions thereupon will further help the farming community to have the optimum agricultural produce and overall economic development.
S. Ajaypal Singh Mirankot appreciated the efforts of the KVK, Tarn Taran, who have started working in a convergence mood with line departments in the district for the economic and social development of the farmers of the district by organizing such agricultural development programmes. He assured full support of the Government for further strengthening the infrastructure and development facilities at the centre. Dr MP Gupta, Professor and Head, Department of Veterinary and Animal Husbandry Extension Education, Vet Varsity stressed upon the conduct of such programmes for the farmers of the district. He also highlighted the backstopping facilities of the University for the farmers betterment and economic upliftment.
The progressive farmers of different agriculture field were honored at the Kisan Mela for their sustained and innovative efforts in developing the agricultural entrepreneurship.
Dr Navjot Singh Brar, proposed vote of thanks at the occasion and appreciated the coordination and effort of the KVK faculty and staff for making Kisan Mela a success.
