Visit of Nepalese delegation to Vet Varsity

Dignitaries from Nepal visited Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, Ludhiana to oversee its set up and working on 25.2.2016. The Nepalese delegation included Mr. Uttam Kumar Bhattarai, Secretary, Mr. Yogendra Kumar Karki, Joint Secretary, and Mr. Kashi Raj Dahal, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Agriculture Development, Dr Keshev, Director General, Livestock Production Govt. of Nepal. Delegates were welcomed by Dr S N S Randhawa, Director Research; Dr S S Singh, Dean Postgraduate Studies; Dr S. Prabhakar, Registrar; Dr H K Verma, Director of Extension Education; Dr. Asha Dhawan, Dean, College of Fisheries; Dr. N. S. Sharma, Controller of Examination and Dr S P S Sangha, Director Students Welfare. The delegates were detailed the organizational set up of GADVASU, salient research achievements and technologies developed and transferred to farmers for livestock, dairy and fisheries upliftement in the state by Dr SNS Randhawa. The delegation enquired about the regulation of para-vets, linkages with central government and global competence of veterinary graduates. GADVASU proudly shared that more than 500 Veterinarians pass out from Ludhiana are serving overseas countries i.e. USA, Canada, New Zealand, Australia in various positions. That is the sole reason that good number of NRI students are coming to GADVASU in the UG programme. Dr A. S. Nanda, Vice-Chancellor, GADVASU assured the delegation that the University is ready to accept Veterinarians, Para-veterinarians including livestock farmers from Nepal and  to help them in respect of sharing knowledge as well as developed technologies with them. The team was highly impressed with the facilities available with GADVASU and showed keen interest in the clinics, dairy farm and the linkages with farmers. Delegates also visited university veterinary hospital where they interacted with heads of various clinical departments. The visitors expressed their deep sense of satisfaction to see the advancement in facilities for diagnosis and treatment of small and large animals.
