The faculty of Department of Veterinary Gynaecology and Obstetrics, Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University won awards for outstanding research at Annual Convention of Indian Society for the Study of Animal Reproduction (ISSAR) held at Veterinary College, Bengaluru. For the meritorious contribution to the research on ‘Animal Reproduction’ Drs M Honparkhe, VK Gandotra and SPS Ghuman were bestowed with prestigious ‘Nil’s Lagerlof Memorial Award-2015’. Dr. SPS Ghuman was invited to deliver a lead Paper on ‘Bovine Obstetrical Practice: Constraints and Solutions’. In the infertility session, Dr SPS Ghuman was awarded with ‘Best Research Paper Presentation’ for the work on ‘Melatonin: A potential candidate for alleviating seasonal suppression of fertility in buffaloes’, co-authored by Drs M Honparkhe, Ranjna Cheema, Bilawal Singh and Amrit K Bansal. In the same session, Dr Mandeep Singh, MVSc Scholar bagged ‘Best Research Poster Presentation’ award for the work on ‘Transvaginal guided cyst ablation for treating cystic ovarian follicles in cattle’, co-authored by Drs M Honparkhe, Ajeet Kumar, Sumit Singhal and SPS Ghuman. In the andrology session, Dr. (Mrs) Ranjna S Cheema won the ‘Best Research Paper Presentation’ award for the work on ‘Effect of Heparin binding proteins on cattle bull semen quality during cryopreservation’, co-authored by Drs M Patel, VK Gandotra and Amrit Bansal. It was unanimously decided at the convention that Dr. SPS Ghuman will act as Editor of ‘Indian Journal of Animal Reproduction’ from 2016 onward. Dr M Honparkhe acted as ‘Rapporteur’ in the session on clinical case presentation. Dr. PS Brar, Professor-cum-Head, congratulated the faculty for their outstanding achievement during the convention.
