In a noble gesture two personalities related with Guru Angad Dev Veterinary & Animal Sciences University extend their hands to encourage students of Vet University for their extra mural achievements. Dr. Rachhpal Singh Bajwa a renowned veterinarian now settled in USA and Dr. Darshan Singh Barri welfare officer of the university donated a sum of Rs 1.25 lakh each to the university for this purpose. Two gold medals, one each for best performing boy and girl will be presented every year from the interest accrued on this amount. Explaining his feeling Dr. Bajwa an Alumnus of college of veterinary science, Ludhiana said that it is a humble contribution to his Alma Mater. We should come forward to pat students of this generation. This type of encouragement improves the standard of performance. He said that it’s a step forward for holistic development of students through cultural activities.
Dr. Barri told that he is dedicated to culture since his student life. It was his long cherished desire to honour the performers. With this deed he is paying off his debt towards culture. The medals will be named after the respective persons.
Dr. Amarjit Singh Nanda, Vice-Chancellor of university said that it is an appreciable move on account of both the personalities as it shows concern towards their institute and students. He said it will motivate other alumni to come forward for this type of gesture. Dr. Nanda said that more persons should show bonhomie for students in the field of academics, research & extension. This type of encouragement will elevate them to excel in their field.
