The surgeons of Department of Veterinary Surgery & Radiology, Guru Angad Dev Veterinary & Animal Sciences University won Gold medal and appreciation awards for outstanding research at Annual Congress of Indian Society of Veterinary Surgery (ISVS) held at Sher-E-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Kashmir (SKUAST-K), Srinagar. Prof. N.S. Saini, an eminent surgeon from GADVASU was invited to deliver a lead Paper on “Diagnosis and surgical treatment of fore-stomach and abomasal disorders in bovines”. Dr Saini said that Department of Surgery and Radiology at GADVASU is pioneered in ultrasonographic diagnosis and surgical treatment of various abdominal disorders in cows and buffaloes.
Dr Satinder Pal Singh Saini , M.V.Sc Scholar bagged the Gold medal for the work on “Concomitant Bilateral femur fracture and Unilateral tibia Fracture repair in dog using intramedullary fixation techniques”. The paper was coauthored by S.S. Singh, T. Singh, V Sangwan and N. S. Saini. In the Small Animal Surgery Session, the paper entitled “Single layer suturing Techniques for bladder wall repair in dogs” by Prachi Taksande., N.S. Saini, T Singh A. Kumar, Arun Anand and P. Verma won appreciation award. The team from GADVASU was also conferred with Gold Medals for Best papers in Ruminant, orthopedic, equine sessions and best paper Published in Indian Journal of Veterinary Surgery for their research papers that were announced at last ISVS congress held at Bikaner, Rajasthan last year.
Dr. J. Mohindroo, Professor-cum-Head, Department of Veterinary Surgery and Radiology congratulated the award winners and informed that world class facilities like ultrasonography, orthopedic surgery, ophthalmic surgery, equine and bovine surgery are available at GADVASU. Dr Mohindroo added that these facilities are being provided to farmers from Punjab and surrounding states at nominal rates. Dr. Simratsagar Singh, Dean PGS congratulated and appreciated the hard work and efforts being made by the faculty members and students of Department of Surgery and Radiology.
