Vet Varsity and ASCI shake hands for the Human Resources Development

It is a matter of pride that Guru Angad Dev Veterinary & Animal Sciences University (GADVASU), Ludhiana and Agriculture Skill Council of India (ASCI) are on one platform to produce the trainers as skilled manpower. The views were expressed by Dr. H. K. Verma, Director of Extension Education of Varsity. He was addressing the concluding ceremony of four days training programme “Train the Trainer” in collaboration with ASCI. In his concluding remarks he said that to take a leap ahead in achieving the goal of skilled human resources Veterinary Varsity has trained the trainers in the field of dairy farming. The training included lectures, demonstrations and practical skills. A film on “Dairy Farming” developed by GADVASU was also shown to the trainees. Apart from these, special emphasis was given on the feeding of balanced ration to dairy animals and their health management. Trainees were told about the vaccination and deworming protocols to be followed by farmers and they were also introduced to the concept of marketing skills and value addition of milk as useful dairy products. He added that these trainers will be Ambassadors of GADVASU and ASCI in the dairy field.  Dr. Verma elaborated that such kind of training programmes will be an asset to the society especially youth who further will be benefited. The major thrust of such programmes is to cater the un-employed youth and provide them with skilled job opportunities. Dr. Verma told that such kind of training programmes will be useful in diverting youth towards the livestock and also to venture in this profession.

Dr. S.S Arya, CEO, ASCI was also present during the inaugural session of training programame. He threw light on the future strategies and policies of ASCI during his address. Col. Kamal Sodhi, Coordinator, ASCI informed that 37 trainees from Punjab, Haryana, U.P & Rajasthan, who will be the future trainers were registered for the current session. Regarding the training schedule and practices followed during training, Dr. Simrinder Singh Sodhi, Local Coordinator of the programme informed that hands on training also has been imparted to the trainees. Dr. Sodhi informed that apart from theoretical knowledge impact was laid down on the practical aspect of trainings. He informed that trainees were given exposure about the handling of animals taking temperature and pulse etc. An interaction round cum question/answer session was arranged to get the impact of training from the trainees and also to modify the future course curriculum.
