NSS Cell of GADVASU celebrates

NSS Cell of GADVASU organized yoga exhibition, conducted lecture on the benefits of yoga, meditation, pranayam and different aasans for over all development of students/NSS volunteer`s motivation and to commemorate International Yoga Day-2015 under the guidance of Dr Syed Shabih Hassan, NSS Programme Coordinator, GADVASU, Ludhiana. More than 100 NSS volunteers of College of Fisheries and College of Dairy Science and Technology, GADVASU participated in the observance of International Yoga Day-2015 and NSS volunteers/students performed different aasans/pranam between 7.00 to 7.35 am on 21st June 2015 as per the guidelines of Ministry of AYUSH in common yoga protocol followed by Yoga day pledge (Sankalpa). International Yoga Day-2015 was inaugurated through lighting lamp by the Chief Guest Dr Satinder Pal Singh Sangha, DSW-cum-EO, GADVASU, Ludhiana. Dr S. P. S. Sangha, DSW-cum-EO also inaugurated yoga exhibition, prepared and displayed by NSS volunteers for awareness among common people. The guest lecture was delivered by Dr Syed Shabih Hassan, NSS Programme Coordinator, GADVASU and the main emphasis in the inaugural function was given on yoga pranam, aasans, peace, harmony and its benefit in life. During inaugural function, Dr Syed Shabih Hassan, NSS Programme coordinator furnished the activities undertaken by NSS volunteers under his guidance and emphasized on the development and manifestation of full consciousness, spiritual discipline, health, happiness and harmony of mind, body, spirit and soul among the youth/volunteers. Dr Syed Hassan delivered lecture on the benefits of yoga, meditation and conducted different aasans as a teacher alongwith volunteers in connection with peace, harmony, spirit, vigour, zeal, leading life to its full potential, development of mind, body, spirit and soul to volunteers/students. During lecture, Dr Syed Hassan told that 193 member of United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) on December 11, 2014 has approved the proposal of consensus with a record 177 co-sponsoring countries a resolution to establish 21st June as “International Day of Yoga”. Chief Guest Dr Satinder Pal Singh Sangha, DSW-cum-EO, GADVASU while addressing the students/volunteers told that yoga is catering both material and spiritual uplift of humanity and today every people is conscious about yoga practice towards the prevention of diseases and maintaining good health on international level . Dr Syed Hassan also distributed book of common yoga protocol to NSS volunteers/students of GADVASU for reading, practicing and gaining experiences to become a physically fit person, good harmonious human being followed by live exercise and play a role in nation building activities. The book emphasizes on the development of harmony, peace among the people/youth, mind, soul, body health improvement, pranayam/aasans techniques and simultaneously motivates volunteers to become a responsible citizen towards the welfare of society, health, community and environment and contribute continuously in nation building programmes by practicing yoga. Finally, NSS volunteers alongwith Dr Syed Hassan took Yoga day pledge as I commit, to make myself into a healthy, peaceful, joyful, and loving human being. Through every action of mine, I will strive to create a peaceful and loving atmosphere around us. NSS volunteers also appeared in good number for practice session of common yoga protocol and different yoga aasans were practically performed to NSS volunteers by Dr Syed Shabih Hassan for observing International Yoga Day-2015 in a very befitting manner. Importance and benefits of various yoga aasans, pranam, its practicing and precautions before, during and after practice were also briefed to NSS volunteers/students by Dr S. S. Hassan as per common yoga protocol book published by Ministry of AYUSH (Ministry of Ayurveda, Yoga & Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homoeopathy) Govt. of India, New Delhi. They attended one hour practice in morning shift and demonstrated various aasans and techniques of pranayam such as alternate nostril breathing, dead body posture, meditative posture, standing posture, palm tree posture, tree postures, relaxation posture, supine posture, bridge posture, wind releasing posture, locust posture, prone posture, cobra posture, crocodile posture, firm posture, auspicious posture, triangle posture, right and left bending, right and left twisting, neck bending, neck rotation, alert posture, hands to feet posture, triangle posture, half wheel posture, the spinal twist posture, the dead body posture, half camel posture, hare posture, long sitting posture, prone relaxation posture, anuloma-viloma pranayama in the morning hour yoga camp. Dr Syed Hassan informed that special yoga camp for NSS volunteers/students will be organized twice a time during semester break in collaboration with local NGOs. Yoga activities will be continued for one hours practicing of various aasans and pranayam techniques in early morning hour. Dr Siva kumar of CODST was also present on the occasion. Volunteers enjoyed the day and used it with great enthusiasm, spirit and vigour from prevention of diseases and health protection through practicing yoga. May all become happy, may all be free from illness, may all see what is auspicious, may no one suffer on this earth planet.
