Guru Angad Dev Veterinary & Animal Sciences University Registrar, Dr. Asha Dhawan informed that the process of admissions to different undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in veterinary, fisheries and dairy technology has been initiated and the prospectus for the academic session 2015-16 have been put on sale. The admissions to undergraduate programmes are made on the basis of Common Entrance Test (CET), going to be held on 18th June this year. The prospectus containing detailed information on admission process including seat capacity, counseling/interview and reservation of seats etc. along with application forms is available from 9th April onwards from 9.30 a.m. to 4.30 p.m. on all working days from the office of Registrar, GADVASU, Ludhiana, Room no. 16, ground floor, administrative block on Ferozpur Road.
Dr. Sushil Prabhakar, Controller of Examinations said that the last date to apply for admission to undergraduate is 4th May however, with late fee the application forms can be submitted by 11th May. For postgraduate programmes the forms can be submitted upto 15th June and with late fee the application forms can be submitted by 22nd June. Name, Address and Contact number will be required for the purchase of the prospectus. The eligibility for admission to undergraduate programmes in the College of Veterinary Science and Fisheries is 10+2 with medical stream (Biology, Physics, chemistry and English) from a recognized Board/University, while for College of Dairy Science and Technology the eligibility is 10+2 with non-medical stream (Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and English). The admission to Master’s programme in Veterinary Sc., Fisheries, Dairy Technology and Animal Biotechnology is based on cumulative score of marks of the qualifying examination and an interview. After graduation the Veterinary passouts can join in the State/Centeral Animal Husbandry Department, Govt./Private/Army/Paramilitary organization, self-employment, higher education or can go abroad, while for Dairy Technologists the jobs are mainly in Dairy industries, Milk Plant and Dairy cooperatives, multinationals and entrepreneurship. The fishery sector is also upcoming industry and has ample opportunities in Central Govt./State Govt./Fishery department and industry.
