Different shades of social, Political and emotional issues were contribution of today’s events in Vet .Varsity Youth Festival. The day was of Skit, Mime, Quiz, Mimicry, Mono Acting and One Act Plays. In the Morning session Quiz ,Skit and Mime was performed. Evening session was reserved for other theatrical events. Whereas one act plays showcased the miserable conditions of women’s life they also highlighted the problem of intoxicants. Dr. Pali Bhupinder’s written play ‘Leeran Di Guddi’ was based on real life story of a Pakistani Women who was blamed as barren and threw in to canal but saved by Indians where she raped and delivered a baby. It was a question to society that what her fault was. Play ‘Lal Honth Peele Chehre’ was based on the novel of Baldev Singh Named ‘Lal Batti’. The play depicted the miseries of prostitutes. It showed the life of ‘Red Light’ area of Indian cities. It also highlighted the stigmas on the life of their children.
Ajmer Aulakh’s written play ‘Mitti Rudan Kare’ depicted the story of drugs problem of Punjab. Up to which extent the issue of drug addiction turned ugly when a person sold his wife, the play showcased.
‘Nati Binodani’ a play written by Kudrat Pal was also depiction of a true story. It expressed the efforts and failure of a female theatre artist. She performed a number of acts on stage but failed to save her theatrical group. She sold herself but vained.
The venue of these events was open air theater PAU.
At the end of today’s events Trophies and Certificates were presented to all the winners. In today’s event all the three colleges at campus along with School of Animal Biotechnology, Vety. Polytechnic Kaljharani, Khalsa College of Veterinary& Animal Sciences, Amritsar particapted. In yesterday’s function Dr Kirpal Singh, ADC, Muktsar, an old alumni was chief guest. Renowned Punjabi Singer Surinder Shinda and Prince Sukhdev mesmerized audience with their performance.
Dr. N K Sood, President, Dance, Drama and Music Club said that Shabad/Bhajan Gayan, Western Songs would be performed in morning session whereas Folk Dances (Bhangra/Gidha) in the afternoon session of tomorrow. It will be followed by Prize distribution function and cultural programme. The venue will remain same, open air theatre PAU. He revealed the results of yesterday’s and today’s events.
