The School of Public Health and Zoonoses, Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (GADVASU), Ludhiana is organizing an International School on “One Health”: An Integrated View on Infectious Diseases, Food Safety and Zoonoses. The formal inauguration of event will be on 5th November 2014. The event is being jointly organized in collaboration with University of Saskatchewan, Canada, under Integrated Training Program in Infectious Diseases, Food Safety and Public Policy (ITraP), funded by Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council (NSERC), Canada.
Dr. V. K. Taneja, Vice-Chancellor, GADVASU, informed that, ITraP is an interdisciplinary, international training initiative in infectious diseases, food safety and public policy based at the University of Saskatchewan, (UofS) Canada and is a part of global One Health initiative which aims to create collaborations between experts from health and environmental disciplines for better health care for humans, animals, and environment. The Free University, (FU) Germany is also partner in this program. This is third international school under this ITrap, Program with first being held at Berlin, Germany and second in Saskatchewan, Canada.
Dr. J. P. S. Gill, Director cum Organizing Secretary, School of Public Health and Zoonoses, GADVASU, Ludhiana, shared that the experts from University of Saskatchewan, Canada, Vaccine and Infectious Disease Organization (VIDO), Canada, WHO, FAO, Food Safety and Standard Authority of India (FSSAI),Wild Life experts, PGI and Dayanand Medical College (DMC) will participate and share their expertise. He said that concluding function will be on 7th November.
The scientific program will include keynote addresses, expert lectures, hands on trainings, group discussions and case studies on the key theme of One Health with issues related to Food safety, Infectious diseases, Environmental pollutants, Zoonoses, and antibiotic resistance.
The postgraduate students from University of Saskatchewan, Canada, Postgraduate students from GADVASU and other outside Indian institutes and young scientist are participating in this international event.
