For motivating the faculty, staff and students to contribute in ‘Swachh Bharat Abhiyan’ a cleanliness drive at National and State level, the Guru Angad Dev Veterinary & Animal Sciences University has taken a lead whole heartedly. Dr V K Taneja, Vice-Chancellor administered cleanliness pledge to university officers and heads of all the departments of university. He said that on auspicious day of ‘Gandhi Jayanti’ it’s a very positive and appreciable initiative of state and centre government to make India clean. Prominent issues were highlighted in the pledge, like 100 hours contribution in a year for cleanliness drive and promise to motivate 100 more persons to join this campaign. Dr Taneja emphasized to devote 2 hours a week for cleanliness around animal farm, laboratories and surroundings regularly. For the sake of cleanliness we should mark these places on our priority list. He said that we should be more cautious about biomedical waste of veterinary hospital, animal waste of different farms, maintain sanitary conditions in hostels and canteens. All the officers administered the oath to the non teaching staff working under them and devoted forenoon session for the purpose.
Heads of all the departments vowed that they will follow this campaign in letter and spirit along with all their teaching, non-teaching colleagues and students. Different groups of students, employees participated in cleaning their respective college offices, compounds, farms, departments, hostels and establishments. This program will continue throughout the month of October. The officers/officials were also motivated to contribute voluntarily towards cleaning of their residential premises, neighborhood and social network premises.
