Department of Livestock Products Technology, Guru Angad Dev Veterinary & Animal Sciences University, Ludhiana has developed innovative products Egg sauce/dip and egg cutlets. The technologies of these products are transferred to Raja Farms Private Ltd, Rajpura, District Patiala, Punjab. The technology has been transferred on Exclusive basis for Rs. 3,00,000/- (Rs.Three lakhs) only. A Memorandum of Understanding has been entered between both the parties in the presence of Dr Vijay Kumar Taneja.Vice- Chancellor, GADVASU and Mr Mohit Raja, Director, Raja Farms Private Ltd, Rajpura. Dr Taneja applauded the efforts of scientists in developing a link with the entrepreneurs. He has given stress on industry oriented research. There is an urgent need to develop the technologies as per the requirement of industry and farmers. He insisted that the feedbacks on the product should be gathered from the end users, which will be instrumental in improving our technologies. Mr Mohit briefed about his company and told that Raja Farms Private Limited is ISO 9001:2008 and HACCP Food Grade, and Quality Warranty Management Standard, New Zealand certified company and their products retail across Delhi, Chandigarh, Haryana and Punjab. They are determined to establish their brand ‘PEGGS’ as leader in eggs and egg products in India as well as abroad. For this, an association with GADVASU will catalyze their progressive efforts. He is planning to launch both these egg products on ‘World Egg Day’ on 10th October. Both these products will bear the caption “Technology developed by GADVASU, Ludhiana”.
It is pertinent to mention that department of LPT has conducted research in pioneer areas of meat processing, quality control and value addition of meat and eggs. Till now, eight different technologies including Egg jam, Health oriented meat products, Emu meat products, chicken meat snack products, meat croquette, shelf stable pork pickle etc. have been transferred to budding entrepreneurs for processing and value addition on both single and multiple user basis. The standardized technologies are ready for transfer for nutritious meat based biscuits and meat wadi with a protein content of 27-30% and has storage life of more than 6 months at room temperature condition. Dr S.N.S. Randhawa, Director of Research, GADVASU congratulated the scientists and said that this is a recognition of industry oriented applied research work carried out by GADVASU. He further asserted that GADVASU has many other technologies on animal health management, animal nutrition and many other aspects of animal husbandry.
