On the occasion of 9th foundation day of the Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, Ludhiana, Department of Teaching Veterinary Clinical Complex is going to organize a free anti-rabies vaccination and deworming camp on April 21, 2014 from 9.00 am to 12.30 pm. Dr. P.S.Mavi HOD said that the pet owners can avail this facility by getting their dogs and cats dewormed and vaccinated against rabies which is a very fatal disease that can be transmitted from animals to human being. Rabies is a dreadful disease and vaccination against this disease is mandatory for pet dogs to safeguard the family members and human population. It is acute, progressive, incurable viral encephalitis with a fatal outcome which is transmitted through injection of infectious saliva into a broken skin mainly through animal bite, licking of scratches, abrasions, and open wounds. It is well pointing here that this university was established on 21 April 2005 with the aim to boost up further the leaping livestock sector in the State. Since its inception GADVASU contributed a lot towards uplifting the livestock viz dairy, poultry, piggery, goatry, fisheries. Beside the existing veterinary college, three new colleges namely, College of Dairy Science and Technology, College of Fisheries at Ludhiana campus and veterinary polytechnic at Kaljharani, BATHINDA were established to fulfil the emerging need of technical persons in this sector. Further to extends its extension services deep into every nook and corner of the state, GADVASU has opened three regional research and training centre at Talwara (Hoshiarpur), Booh (Tarntaran), Kaljharani (Bathinda) and three Krishi Vigyan Kendras at Mohali, Barnala and Tarntaran.
