National Congress on Canine Practice & Symposium on Strategy for Canine Health Care with focus on Zoonotic Diseases” was held at Veterinary college, Patna (Bihar). Dr (Col) P S Mavi Prof cum Head Deptt of Teaching Veterinary Clinical Complex, Dr N K Sood Sr Pathologist in-charge diagnostic lab and Dr P N Dwivedi Sr Microbiologist from Guru Angad Dev Veterinary & Animal Sciences University (GADVASU) delivered lead papers and chaired the technical sessions of the symposium. The symposium was organized by Indian society for advancement of canine practices under the aegis of Bihar Agricultural Universtiy. The chief guest Dr SS Honanapagol Animal Husbandry Commissioner GOI and Maj Gen Sashi Kant Sharma Vice Chancellor Haryana Vety. Uni. inaugurated the symposium. More than 150 scientists /delegates from all over the country deliberated the technical session to evolve strategy for canine health care with special emphasis on the diseases communicated from dogs to human beings.
Dr Dwivedi chaired the technical session on canine microbiology, virology and immunology. His lead paper was on sero-diagnosis of viral infection in companion animals. Col Mavi presented a lead paper on a common problem of canine reproduction- venereal granuloma. He also chaired the canine reproduction & breeding technical session. Dr Sood in his presentation talked about the diagnostic cytology –a handy tool in canine vety practice. He also chaired the technical session. The lectures delivered by the GADVASU Sr Professors were appreciated by the delegates who were very informative for the diagnosis of various diseases at the earliest by simple techniques like serodiagnosis, cytology which are handy tool in canine health care and control of many zoonotic diseases transmitted from dogs to human beings. The entire three scientists were felicitated for their best presentations in the field of virology, canine reproduction and vety pathology.
