The Scientists and Post-Graduate students of the Department of Livestock Production Management (LPM), Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (GADVASU), Ludhiana, were highly recognised for their scientific skills and research at National Seminar on “New Dimensional Approaches for Livestock Productivity and Profitability Enhancement under Era of Climate Change” & XXI Annual Convention of Indian society of Animal Production and Management, held at Anand Agricultural University, Anand (Gujarat). Out of 1200 life members of the Society, more than 350 National and International Scientists participated in the Conference.
A team of three Scientists and four P.G. students from the Department of LPM, GADVASU, led by Dr. A. L. Saini, Professor-cum-Head and Vice-President of the Society, participated and won bagful of awards. Dr. Saini, received the honour to Co-Chair one most important and common technical session entitled “Climate change and its effect on livestock productivity” where many national and international Scientists deliberated their concerns and views on livestock productivity under the scenario of climate change. Dr. Saini also presented a lead paper entitled “Body confirmation, judging and selection of dairy animals” which was co-authored by Dr. Chandrahas and appreciated by the august gathering and organisers profusely. In addition to this all the participants received one or the other award (a total number of seven) instituted by the Organisers. Dr. Chandrahas, Assistant Professor and Member, Editorial Board of the Society Journal, got oral presentation award for his research work entitled “Supplementation of prepared organic copper and zinc on performance of Beetal does and kids”. This work was co-authored by S. Saijpaul and A. L. Saini. Dr. Sandeep Kaswan, Assistant Professor, acted as Rapporteur for one technical session and also got oral presentation awards for his papers entitled “Relative economics of pig rearing with different floor space allowances” and another award named as Smt. Kadambani Jana Award for paper entitled “Behaviour and welfare assessment of pigs reared with reduced floor space allowances”. Dr. Priyanka Rana, M.V.Sc. Scholar, got poster presentation award for her research work on “Effect of different immunoglobulin sources on haematology of Beetal kids under stall-fed conditions”. This work was co-authored by Chandrahas and A. L. Saini. Dr. Aleesha Luthra, M. V. Sc. Scholar, received poster presentation award for her research work on “Analysis of age and growth pattern by teeth and body biometry in Beetal goats”. This work was co-authored by Chandrahas and A. L. Saini. Dr. Anil Kumar Sharma, has received oral presentation award for his research work on “Aerobic composting as suitable waste management technique for poultry farmers”, co-authored by Daljeet Kaur and A. P. S. Sethi. Similarly, Dr. Sarada Prasanna Sahoo got oral presentation award for his research work entitled “Effect of litter acidification on broiler production”, co- authored by Daljeet Kaur, A. P. S. Sethi and Amit Sharma. University authorities, have showered praise and congratulated all the award recipients for their excellent research work and bringing laurels for the University.
