NSS volunteers of Guru Angad Dev Veterinary & Animal Sciences University organised a blood donation camp to commemorate World Population Day and Himalyan Disaster (Uttarakhand) under the supervision of Dr Syed Shabih Hassan, NSS Programme Coordinator. Dr Naved Aslam, Senior Cardiologist of DMCH, Hero Heart Centre, Ludhiana inaugurated camp in association with Blood Bank, DMCH, Ludhiana. More than 160 GADVASU students, NSS volunteers, employees and staff witnessed the occasion and got immediate motivations from displayed charts, poster of NSS cell. NSS volunteers and students of College of Fisheries, College of Dairy Science & Technology, College of Veterinary Science and affiliated college, Khalsa College of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Amritsar (KCVAS) attended the event. Dr Syed Shabih Hassan, welcomed the gathering and dignitaries and motivated volunteers for blood donation. Dr Hassan emphasized on the importance of healthy social life and blood donation. He highlighted the need of blood in India every year. Dr Naved Aslam addressed the gathering and informed on the objectives of donating blood and morality behind blood donation. He said that blood donation benefits to both the donor and the beneficiary. Blood donation is a supreme and noble service to the mankind. Guest of honour, Dr P. D. Juyal, Registrar, GADVASU also motivated volunteers, students for blood donation and extended their support for this noble cause.
Blood donation was done under the guidance by a team of DMCH led doctor, Dr Aikaj Jindal, Resident, DMCH, Ludhiana and technical staff. A total of 25 units of blood were donated. Donated Blood samples were received by the official team of DMCH, Ludhiana. Certificate, memento, refreshment were also distributed to donor participants on the spot. Dr Amit Kumar of CODST and Dr Summerpreet and Dr Gurjot Kaur of KCVAS, Amritsar were present on the occasion. Ms Amardeep Kaur proposed vote of thanks to dignitaries, DMCH staff and students, volunteers who participated in blood donation camp and donated blood. Many other dignitaries and employees of the staff were also present to grace the occasion.
