Indian Association of Veterinary Public Health Specialists (IAVPHS) Conferred on “Life Time Achievement Award” to Dr. J.K. Sharma Retd. Professor and Former HOD Veterinary Public Health, Guru Angad Dev Veterinary & Animal Sciences University in recognition of his outstanding contributions for the advancement of Vety. Public Health. He was honoured during International Symposium and Xl Annual Conference of IAVPHS held at Vet Varsity. Dr JK Sharma did B V SC & AH, MVSC and Ph D from PAU. Dr.Sharma Started his career as Asst. Disease Investigation officer at Haryana Agricultural University Hisar in 1980 and served as Sr Scientist in a prestigious institute of Army at Central Military Veterinary Laboratory Merrut. After that joined PAU as Professor-cum-Head VPH. He had many awards, distinctions and professional recognitions to his credit. He was nominated by Governor of Punjab as expert member of State Committee on animal health, Member of Research Advisory Committee of National Research Centre on Meat (ICAR), member Academic Council PAU and Guru Angad Dev Veterinary & Animal Sciences University, fellow of IAVPHS since 2003, Vijay Shree Award and certificate of excellence by lndian international Friendship Society. For his highly valuable scientific contributions he awarded Dr VS Alwar memorial award by Indian Association for Advancement of Vety. Parasitology. He remained Vice President of IAVPHS for two consecutive terms since. He attended three specialized prestigious trainings on detection of Vety. Drug residues, pesticides in food of animal origins and International Training on Food Safety Consumer protection at European Union Reference Labortary in Berlin, Rome and Germany. He remained life member of various professional societies and associated with research projects. He guided 11 MVSc and 2 PhD students besides publishing 81 research papers and 55 abstracts in national and International journals, conference proceedings, and award winning papers. He was attended 28 conferences. He attributed highly valuable and significant contributions in research, teaching in VPH Food Safety/Food Hygiene, Zoonoses, Animal Health and Epidemiology.
