Livestock profession plays a major role in the economy of agrarian state like Punjab. Farmers should come forward to adopt these professions in a scientific based technologies by adopting latest production and protection techniques. These views were expressed by S. Parkash Singh Badal, Chief Minister, Punjab on foundation stone laying function of Regional Research and Training Centre (RRTC) at Bhatoli (Talwara) of Guru Angad Dev Veterinary & Animal Sciences University, Ludhiana. S. Badal hoped that with intervention of this centre economic condition of farming community of this area will improve. He revealed that Emu farming, Backyard Poultry, Rain water harvesting, Pond Fisheries and good quality cross bread cows especially Jersey will be promoted in kandi area. With training facilities from University youth will be engaged in livestock profession in a scientific manner. He also insisted to establish self health group of women to nurture the family economy. The new centre of University will play a major role to uplift the level of farming in vertical as well as horizontal manner in kandi area.
