After final decision university announced the names of winners in different categories. In the cattle category Sh.Jatinder Singh S/O S.Tej Singh VPO Channuwal, Block Bagha Purana, Distt.Moga won the award. He started dairy farming in year 1985 with 20 cows now he has 112 animals and effective 42 cattle are producing 9 quintal milk daily. He had established a milking parlour, all his cattle’s have different names and they recognize their name on master’s call. The maximum produce of one of his cow is 57 liter in a single day. In buffalo category Sh.Harminder Singh Sandhu S/O S. Malkit Singh Vill. Sahnewal, Distt. Ludhiana started his dairy farm in 1989 with 10 buffalos now he has 94 animals and effective 44 heads are producing 6.5 quintal milk daily. To develop eco friendly environment he started his own biogas plant and used the slurry in his fields. He has adopted a number of advance technologies and interventions in his farm. In Fisheries category , Sh. Harbhajan Singh S/O S.Bant Singh,Vill.Malik Pur Khayla, Distt.Mansa, won the award. He started fish farming in year 1989 in a panchayti pond. Now he has 15 panchayti ponds around 45 acres area. He also developed 2 fish ponds in his own land of five acres each. He integrated his fish farmer with pig farming. The wastage of his pig farm is good source of feeding elements for fisheries. He has nursery, hatchery, production and brooded stock. In Piggery category Sh.Lakhwinder Singh S/O Gurdial Singh Vill. Mehanian Brahmana, Distt.Amritsar baged the award. He started piggery in 2007 with 5 pigs. Now he has an impressive number of 200 pigs. He has developed ultra modern and airy sheds. The University awarded of Rs. 21,000/- for cow farmers, 21000/- for buffalo category, and award of Rs. 11000/- to Fish farmer and an award of Rs. 5,100/- to piggery .These awards carry plaque ,shawl and citation along with cash. Dr V.K. Taneja awarded these honours in an impressive function. He said that creation of these awards will help in motivating cattle, buffalo, fish, poultry, piggery and goat farmers to learn and adopt the latest technologies and practices of animal farming and the awardees will also serve as models for other farmers who want to adopt animal farming.
