A 2-day book exhibition being organized by the Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University opened at the Examination hall on Tuesday. Scientists of GADVASU were seen spending enough time to immerse themselves in new books. Large number of students gleefully buried themselves among the vast number of books on display there. The Exhibition was inaugurated by Dr V.K.Taneja Vice chancellor of the university. Dr. Taneja said the book industry is undergoing deep transformations and changes are just at the beginning. In today’s world of advance technology and digital way of life books are still capable of teaching and bringing changes in mind. This is why there’s always a reason to appreciate book exhibitions. This book exhibition will help the university scientists stay learned. But in future the scientific community will be using the new tools for reading digital texts on devices like iPads and other electronic gadgets and the university libraries have to tune themselves with time. Dr. Taneja emphasized on need to introduce e-books for students and scientists in Libraries.
Dr R. S. Brar, Professor cum University Librarian said that this is fifth book exhibition of university and 23 leading book publishers and distributers from North India are participating in the exhibition with a wide range of latest editions of books. This is the fifth book exhibition organized by the university. The university also encourages faculty members to develop their personal library by purchasing books under a special subsidy scheme.
