Department of Livestock Products Technology of Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Ludhiana is organizing two trainings on value added products. The first one is on ‘Awareness on production of safe meat and value added meat products’ on 22-23rd November, 2011 for the benefits of the farmers and small entrepreneurs. Dr. J. Sahoo HOD of the department said that In this training the participants will be given hands-on-training on the preparation of different cut-up-parts of poultry, pigs and goat carcasses, the development of different ready-to-eat meat products such as meat koftas, meat pickle, sausages, meat burger patties etc. and their packaging. The marketing tips for these products will also be discussed for their economic benefits. In addition they will also be provided with the brochures and booklets for their future reference.
The department is also organizing second training on “Value added milk products with special emphasis on mozzarella cheese’ on dated 1-2nd December, 2011. In this training the farmers will be provided information on the hygienic production of milk and milk products. They will be given Hands-on-training for the development of various milk products such as flavoured milk, different types of lassi, khoa, paneer, whey drinks etc. Now a days mozzarella cheese commonly known as pizza cheese is getting popularity among the masses. The best quality mozzarella cheese can be prepared from buffalo milk and Punjab is a hub of buffalo milk. In this training the participants will be given practical training for the development of different varieties of mozzarella cheese and its packaging.
