GADVASU Conducts Oath Taking Ceremony for Passing out Veterinarians

July 31 Expiring at: May 10

The College of Veterinary Science of Guru Angad Dev Veterinary & Animal Sciences University (GADVASU), Ludhiana celebrated the Oath Taking Ceremony of 92 passing out veterinarians of 2006 batch. Out of 92 passing out students, 24 were girls. After inception of GADVASU this was the first admitted batch in the new university who was passing out.

Dr V K Taneja, Vice Chancellor, GADVASU was the chief guest on the occasion. Dr S K Uppal, Professor & Head, Department of Teaching Veterinary Clinical Complex welcomed the Chief Guest and other dignitaries. Dr H S Sandhu, Dean, College of Veterinary Science, administered the Veterinarian’s Oath to the passing out graduates. He also shared the achievements of students who brought laurels to the University in the field of academics, sports, and extra-curricular activities. Highlighting the importance of dumb creatures, Dr H S Sandhu, appealed the students to be kind and passionate for the profession. Speaking on the occasion, Dr V K Taneja wished good luck to the passing out students for their future responsibilities. He exhorted the students to work hard as this is the beginning of their professional life, and they should be ready to face the challenges.   He urged them to serve the society especially in the rural sector. He highlighted the available placement opportunities for the veterinarians like Govt. jobs, private practice, pharmaceuticals, banks, defence services and research organizations. Dr Taneja also highlighted the importance of higher education and the need of specialists in the twelfth Five Year Plan and advised the students to choose higher education and research as their career.  He also revealed the new challenges to vets in respect of outbreaks and threats to public health. He said that a lot of efforts are required in the field of research, training, teaching and field related problems. He also emphasized upon the nobility of profession and the increasing importance of the role of veterinarians.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr P D Juyal, Registrar of the University congratulated the students and made them aware about the veterinary ethics and animal welfare.

Harsukhmanpreet Singh and Sahiba Mann, students’ representatives, shared their past experiences on the behalf of all the passing outs.

Dr. G S Dhaliwal, proposed the Vote of Thanks. Dr S N S Randhawa, Director of Research cum Dean, PGS; Dr. K S Sandhu, Director of Extension Education; Dr S P S Sangha, Director students Welfare cum Estate Officer; Dr R S Brar, University Librarian and Dr Sushil Prabhakar, Controller of Examination, heads of various departments and a large number of faculty members also attended the function.
