Free Anti-Rabies Vaccination Camp held at GADVASU

Rabies is a killer viral disease that is mainly transmitted to humans through bite of rabid dogs, monkeys, mongoose etc. To highlight the dreadfulness of this disease, its prevention and control; World Rabies Day is celebrated world over on 28th September every year. To mark the occasion, GADVASU organized an anti-rabies vaccination camp in University’s Small Animal Clinic on 27th September. Many pet owners participated and enquired about the condition. 43 pets were dewormed and given preventive vaccination against rabies. Dr Simrat Sagar Singh, Dean, College of Veterinary Science inaugurated the vaccination camp while Dr Kirti Dua, Head Veterinary Medicine and Dr SK Uppal, Professor Clinical Medicine replied to the queries of the owners.

Dr S Prabhakar, Head, Veterinary Clinical Complex informed that a slide show for teaching the prevention and control of rabies for the benefit of the pet owners was also organized. GADVASU Veterinary Hospital is one of its kind in the state that is equipped with major facilities for diagnosis and treatment of diseases. More than 22000 cases are annually treated in this hospital, major chunk being the cases with medicinal problems. Facilities including ultrasound scanning, computerized radiography, endoscopy, clinical pathology, etc. and facilities for all kinds of elective and emergency surgeries including reproductive health management exist in the hospital.
