Specialized training attended by Scientists from 10 states concluded at Vet Varsity

 21 days Advanced training course on “Selection of superior sires, pre-breeding evaluation, quality semen production and fertility optimization in dairy animals, an update” was organised in the Department of Veterinary Gynaecology and Obstetrics, Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, under the aegis of ICAR, New Delhi. Seventeen participants from ten states, working in Veterinary and Agricultural Universities and Krishi Vigyan Kendras participated in this course.

The training was aimed at providing background knowledge and hands-on practice in various technologies for Bull Breeding Soundness Evaluation, Semen Evaluation and Quality Semen Production. Ultrasonography of male genitalia and internal accessory organs, Thermal Imaging, advanced Semen Function Tests, Embryo Flushing and Evaluation and other miscellaneous procedures useful in bull management were demonstrated and practiced. An initial session on psychological management of environmental conditions by Mr Inderjeet Mittal, the Master trainer in GOI, was the key for infusing high morale and encouragement of the trainees. Mr. Pranav, an eminent engineer from  Vellore Institute of Technology was instrumental in conveying different models for effective teaching, preparation of lectures in PPT and animation modes.

On-line deliberations by International experts: Dr Dinesh Dadarwal, from University of Saskatchewan, Saskatoon, Canada and Dr Ejaz Ahmed from Multan, Pakistan, delivered useful information highlighting International scenario in Animal Reproduction.

Dr S P Shukla, Dean College of Veterinary Sciecne, Rewa, MP was the evaluator deputed by ICAR who emphasized on the selection and management of Bull. Expert lectures by Dr Inderjeet Singh (Director Central Institute for Research on Buffaloes, Hisar), Dr Pawan Singh and Dr Sohan Vir Singh from NDRI, Karnal on Semen Station management, Semen Evaluation and Climate Resilience vis-à-vis semen production, respectively, elevated the interest of participants.

The great vision and deep insight of the honourable Vice Chancellor, Dr A S Nanda was a source of high inspiration and encouragement in executing the programme.

In the concluding session, held on yesterday Dr Simrat Sagar Singh, Dean Post Graduate Studies-cum- Coordinator and Dr P S Brar, Dean, College of Veterinary Science addressed the participants and congratulated them for successful completion of the training programme. The team of organizers comprising Dr Prahlad Singh - Director, Dr Ajeet Kumar and Dr Ashwani Kumar Singh - Course Coordinators, support of the department faculty facilitated the successful completion of the course.
