College of Veterinary Science organises Alumni Meet to celebrate Pearl Jubilee

 Alumni Association, College of Veterinary Science, Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, Ludhiana, organised Alumni meet to celebrate 30th year of its existence at Pal Auditorium, Punjab Agricultural University, Dr. Parkash Singh Brar, President, Alumni Association cum Dean College of Veterinary Science in his welcome address revealed that Alumni are the mouth piece of university, who bring name and fame for the institute by virtue of their hard work at national and international level. But due to hectic life schedule and commitment towards work responsibilities they often fail to revisit the parent university but always feel a pang in the heart for the Alma Mater. So to provide them an opportunity to reunite, Alumni Association decided to organise this Alumni meet. Dr. H. K. Verma, Secretary Alumni Association cum Director Extension Education GADVASU briefed about the activities of Alumni Association. Dr N.K. Arora, IPS IG Intelligence, Punjab Police and Dr K.K. Baxi Former, Dean, College of Veterinary Science were guest of Honour. Both guests shared their past memories with the august gathering. Dr. A. S. Nanda, Vice-Chancellor GADVASU, the chief guest of the occasion, in his speech highlighted the performance of college of veterinary science. Dr Nanda revealed that this meet has united the four generations of veterinarians. He further emphasized on the strong linkage between the university and field veterinarians to serve the farming community in a better way. “Vet Alumnus” the official journal of the society was released by the dignitaries on the dais. On this occasion, Drs. P.K. Malhotra, A.S. Pannu, Rana Preet Gill, Harveen Kaur all veterinary officers in the field, Lt. Col. Dr. Parvesh Singh, Indian Army and Dr Amarjit Singh, Senior Manager, Danone got the distinguished alumnus award for their meritorious services. Dr Amit Mahajan, SDM Pathankot and Dr Mandeep Kaur ETO, Ludhiana were bestowed with award of honour for serving the community in general. Drs. P.N. Verman, R.P. Saigal, M.S. Oberoi, D. R. Sharma, K. S. Roy, Rajvir Singh, S.N. Sharma, Mehar Singh, S.C. Gupta, P.J.S. Rattan, M.S. Bal, Dr I.S. Bajwa, S. K. Jand, S.S .Sidhu, R.S. Sahota, P.S. Mavi were conferred with eminent alumnus award for their contribution to the profession as well as to the society. To appraise the house with latest development in the profession Dr Ashwani Sharma, Prof. Veterinary Medicine, Dr Ashwani Kumar Associate Professor, Veterinary Surgery and Dr M Honparkhe Associate Professor, Veterinary Gynaecology delivered their lectures. A video film developed by Dr Kirti Dua, Head, wild life unit of the university on wild life medicines was shown to the veterinarians. To make the event more memorable, a cultural programme was organised, where Alumni of different stature shown their hidden talent. To carry the alumni down the memory lane a special visit to vet hostels in the university was executed. Dr. P. N. Dwivedi coordinated the stage activities and Dr J S Hundal proposed the vote of thanks to the all the alumni who came across from the distant places of Punjab, Canada, USA to attend the meet.
