Vet Varsity student brings laurels to the institute

 Ajaypal Singh Kahlon, a post graduate student of School of Public Health and Zoonoses, GADVASU bring laurels to the university on his selection for integrated PhD program in prestigious Western College of Veterinary Sciences at University of Saskatchewan, Canada starting from September 2017 onwards. During study period he will be awarded annual grant of 18,000 CAD$ until completion of his tenure.  He will work with Dr. Catherene Soos, Adjunct Professor, Department of Veterinary Pathology, Western College of Veterinary Sciences, University of Saskatchewan, Canada. Dr. Ajaypal completed M.V.Sc in Veterinary Public Health and Epidemiology from School of Public Health and Zoonoses, GADVASU in July 2017 under the guidance of Dr. Jasbir Singh Bedi, Assistant Professor and his research work was on human brucellosis.
Dr. Bedi, Principal Investigator of brucellosis project, funded by the department of Biotechnology (DBT) informed that brucellosis in an important neglected zoonotic disease (transmissible from animals to human) in India with high impact on occupationally exposed human population. Dr. JPS Gill, Director of Research, GADVASU has applauded the success of Dr Ajaypal by saying that his continuous efforts and valuable guidance from GADVASU has helped him to achieve this goal. Dr Gill informed that GADVASU has signed MoU University of Saskatchewan, Canada for collaborative research and capacity building and exchange of students and scientists. Dr. Rabinder Singh Aulakh, Director, School of Public Health and Zoonoses congratulated the student and stated that School of Public Health and Zoonoses is working on diagnosis and control of zoonotic diseases prevalent in Punjab along with food hygiene & safety and environmental hygiene. Dr. Simrat Sagar Singh, Dean Post Graduate Studies and Dean College of Veterinary Science Dr. Parkash Singh Brar congratulated the student on this achievement.
