National workshop on Co-operative Learning held at Veterinary Varsity

College of Dairy Science & Technology today organized a one day National Workshop on Co-operative Learning for Dairy professional at Silver Jubilee auditorium of the university. Dr. A.K. Puniya, Dean of College informed that Dr. Narendra Singh Rathore, Deputy Director General (Education), Indian Council of Agricultural Research, New Delhi was the Chief Guest of the function. On this occasion he launched an mobile app and web portal ProCool (Promote Co-operative Learning), developed by the students and faculty of the College of Dairy Science & Technology under a research project funded by Education Division of ICAR New Delhi. While talking about the importance of modern communication gadgets like smart phone in teaching and creating awareness to the students Dr. Puniya elaborated about the ProCool mobile app and web portal and their importance in cooperative learning.

Dr Rathore in  his address stressed on various issues pertaining to education in agriculture and allied disciplines, futuristic requirements of the skilled human resources for the growth of this sector. He invoked young scientists and students of the university to rededicate themself to achieve the goal of Doubling Farm Income by 2022 as goal set by the Govt. of India. Dr. Rathore appreciated the contribution of Punjabis in the growth and development of agriculture sector in India in general and green revolution in particular.

Dr. A.S Nanda, Vice Chancellor of GADVASU presided over the function. He said that this type of innovations would go a long way to provide instant and handy information to the stake holders of the dairy sector. He appreciated the efforts and contributions of the young faculty of the College in the development of dairy Sector in Punjab. The dignitaries released a book on ‘Animal Breeding: Principles and Applications’ written by Dr G.S. Brah, Dr. Simrat Sagar Singh, Dean (PGS), GADVASU apprised the audience and chief guest about the various activities including teaching, research and extension activities of the university. Dr. Sunil Kumar, principal investigator of the project informed that total 175 participants including students and scientist have registered themselves for this workshop. He also proposed the vote of thanks.
