Faculty and students of Department of Veterinary Gyanecology and Obstetrics, Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, Ludhiana attended 32nd Annual Convention and national symposium on “Animal Fertility and Fecundity at Crossroads: Addressing the Issues through Conventional and Advanced Reproductive Technologies” held at College of Veterinary Science, Sri Venkateswara Veterinary University, Tirupati.
Scientists of Varsity acknowledged with an impressive number of awards. “Dr RD Sharma Award” for the best paper in obstetrics was awarded to Dr Navdeep Singh, VK Gandotra and SPS Ghuman. Prestigous “Neil’s Lagerloff Award” was bestowed upon AK Pandey, GS Dhaliwal and SPS Ghuman for their research paper published in Animal Reproduction Science. “N C Sharma award” was presented to V Zodinsanga,, R S Cheema and P S Mavi for their research paper on semen biotechnology published in Indian Journal of Animal Reproduction. ‘Young Scientist Awards’ were received by Dr Sumit Singhal, for oral presentation in Reproductive Biotechnology session; Dr Navdeep Singh for best research poster presentation which emphasized the field application of Embryo Transfer Technology for propagation of indigenous Sahiwal cattle.
Professor (Dr) VK Gandotra, was unanimously elected as Vice-President of Indian Society for the Study of Animal Reproduction (ISSAR) for the second term.
In another significant achievement Dr Ajeet Kumar, presented a key note address in the inaugural session at the Annual meeting of Myanmar Veterinary Association, Yongon, Myanmar. He delivered his keynote lecture on “Strategies to optimize reproduction by implementing improved practices in dairy animals” in Animal Science session. The visit to Myanmar was sponsored by Crown Veterinary Resources, Yangon, Myanmar.
Dr A K Singh, on the invitation of Director, ICAR–National Research Centre on Pig delivered a lecture on topic, ‘Global Best Practices in Piggery with Special Reference to Artificial Insemination Technology’ during ‘Pig Expo’ held at Guwahati.
