Five days training programme on

College of Dairy Science and Technology, Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, Ludhiana has organized a five day farmers training on ‘Value Addition of Milk’ under the aegis of the Directorate of Extension Education, GADVASU from 5th Dec – 9th Dec 2016. Around 20 dairy farmers from different district of Punjab registered in this training program. Dr A K Puniya, Dean, College of Dairy Science and Technology welcomed the participants and the chief guest of program Dr S.N.S. Randhawa, Research Advisor, GADVASU. Dr Puniya also briefed the importance of training program and benefits associated with the value addition of milk. Dr Randhawa addressed the participants and said that proper training in different aspects of milk production, processing and packaging can help farmers to produce clean milk, long time preservation along with economical benefits.

During the five days training program, experts in different fields viz Dairy Technology, Dairy Chemistry, Dairy Microbiology, Dairy Engineering and Dairy Economics are going to interact with the participants. Dr S Sivakumar, Course Co-ordinator revealed that the schedule of the training program has been designed, keeping in mind the requirements/problems of dairy farmers and especial emphasis has been kept on practical’s and hands on training. Hands on training on manufacture of milk products vizcurd, lassi, paneer, mozzarella cheese, whey drinks, flavored milk, milk cake, dhoda burfi etc. will be provided during the scheduled program, along with exposure to the packaging machinery involved. The training program will also cover expert lecture on economic analysis of milk and milk products, and role of media in marketing of dairy products. The training program is jointly co-ordinated by Dr S Sivakumar, Dr Harsh Panwar and Dr Sunil Kumar.
