Three day international symposium and 7th Conference of Indian Meat Science Association concluded today at Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, Ludhiana. Brainstorming discussions and presentation on various aspects of clean meat production, animal welfare, processing, presentation, packaging and quality assurance were conducted. There were eight technical sessions in which more than 250 research papers were presented.
The conference was attended by 250 scientists and academicians from different educational and research institutes, field veterinarians, army personnel’s from RVC industry, fellows, representatives of financial institutions. Dr. Manish Kumar Chatli, organizing secretary informed that 69 progressive poultry, goatry, piggery farmers attended industry-academia-farmer interface which was a grand success. The farmers appreciated the initiative of organizing committee because it has helped them to make liaison with the industry so that they can got good revenues for their produce. Dr. V.V. Kulkarni president of society congratulated organizing committee for successful organization of the conference.
He said that Dr G.S. Reddy, Assisant Professor, Tirupati Veterinary College, received Allansons Young scientist award, DR Kowale Best Master's thesis award was presented to Dr Deepak G.S. from Karnataka Veterinary University. Drs Lalampui and Dinesh Krofa, PhD student of Department of LPT, GADVASU won the best poster and oral presentation awards, respectively.
Dr. Manish Kumar Chatli informed that the recommendation from the conference will be submitted to all the policy makers, concerned ministries and regulatory agencies. The valedictory function was chaired by Dr. R.K. Gupta, Director Central Institute of Post-Harvest Engineering & Technology (CIPHET) and presided by Dr. Parkash Singh Brar, Dean, College of Veterinary Science. Dr. Chatli expressed his gratitude to Dr. A.S. Nanda, Vice-Chancellor, GADVASU for his patronage to plan, formulate and implement this very idea of international conference.
