Students express power of words in Veterinary Varsity Youth festival

November 12 Expiring at: May 10

7th Youth festival of Guru Angad Dev Veterinary & Animal Sciences University progressed to 4th day with competition held in literary events. Students expressed their feelings and expressions through their participation in events including Debate, Elocution, Extempore, Creative Writing, Poetry and Haas-Ras.

Dr. Darshan Singh Barhi organizing secretary of festival said that in morning session Debate. Elocution, Extempore, Creative writing competitions were held. In the afternoon session there were competitions of Poetic Recitation and Haas-Ras poetry. Students expressed their thoughts through poetry on current and important issues. Results of these competitions were as under:

Topic for Debate was ‘Heritage & Folk culture is preserved only in youth festivals’.

The result of this competition was:

        1. College of Veterinary Science

2. Khalsa College of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Amritsar

3. College of Fisheries

Individual winners of Debate were:

1. In support of topic - Mehak Mahant, College of Veterinary Sciences

2. Against the topic - Gurleeen Kaur, Khalsa College of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Amritsar

In the Extempore competition result was:

3. Mohneet Kaur, College of Veterinary Science

In the Elocution event The topic was ‘What we are after 70 years of independence

The result of this competition was:

3. Amandeep Singh, College of Dairy Science and Technology

The topic for Creative writing was ‘What will happen if there is no water on earth the result of this competition was:

      3. Gurleen Kaur, Khalsa College of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Amritsar

The Judges of Literary events were Dr. Swarndeep Singh Hundal, Proffessor, PAU, Dr. Prem Singh Bajaj, Retd. Principal and Prof. Inderpal Singh, Govt. College Karmsar.

The Results of Fine Arts events which were held in last three days were also announced as follows.

On the Spot Painting result was:

In the Installation event result was:

1. Team of College of Fisheries

Kripal Singh, Student of Khalsa College of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Amritsar was declared as best artist of the youth festival and overall trophy for fine arts was awarded to the same college.

Dr. Satyavan RamPal, Director Student Welfare congratulated the winner students. He said that Youth Festival will enter in the more colourful and Musical phase as main stage items will be on floor from 26th October. He said that Dr AS Nanda, Vice-Chancellor will inaugurate youth festival with cultural procession by different colleges in the Open Air Theatre of PAU on 26.10.2016.

In all the competitions three colleges of university named College of Veterinary Science, College of Dairy Science and Technology, College of Fisheries, School of Animal Biotechnology, Veterinary Polytechnic, Kaljharani participated alongwith affiliated college Khalsa College of Veterniary and Animal Sciences Amritsar. Dr. N K Sood, President, Dance Drama and Music Club said that on 26 October 2016, there will be competitions of Procession, Folk song, Creative Dance, Light Vocal and Group Songs (Indian & Patriotic) at Open Air Theatre of Punjab Agricultural University.
