Veterinary Parasitology department of Veterinary Varsity hogs the limelight

November 7 Expiring at: May 10

Dr. Nirbhay Kumar Singh, Assistant Professor of the Department of Veterinary Parasitology has bagged the prestigious Raman Fellowship for the year 2016-17 for pursuing Post-Doctorate (PDF) Fellow under United State Department of Agriculture (USDA). His discipline of research is on Acaricide Resistance against common ixodid ticks of the world. He has published more than 100 research articles in reputed journals. At present he is pursuing PDF under USDA in Texas. His study in USA will be an asset to the department in getting the projects in collaboration as well as independently. Dr. S.S. Rath, Professor-cum-Head, said that department has earned remarkable achievements through faculty members and students.

Dr. Rath further revealed that Dr. L.D. Singla a senior most professor of the department has been recently decorated with fellowship of National Academy of Veterinary Science (NAVS) India at 15th Convocation of NAVS and National Symposium on “Sustainable Livestock Development for Food and Nutritional Security” held at Khalsa College of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (KCVAS), Amritsar, Punjab. Dr. Singla is also the ‘Fellow of Royal Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene (2004)’. Dr. Singla was bestowed with a number of prestigious National and International awards in recognition of his valuable contributions and achievements in the field of Veterinary Protozoology and Parasitic Zoonoses, respectively.

Dr. Devina Sharma who is doing Ph.D. in Veterinary Parasitology under the supervision of Dr. S. S. Rath is an in service faculty of Veterinary College, Palampur has been chosen for Commonwealth Split Fellowship for doing part of her Ph.D. at Royal Veterinary College, London. She has already joined the college in London where she will be engaged in latest molecular research in parasitic diseases of animals.   

Dr. Manjural Haque who has done his M.V.Sc. degree under the supervision of Dr. S. S. Rath is presently pursuing his Ph.D. programme at Institute of Parasitology, McGill University (Macdonald Campus), Montreal, Canada.

Dr. (Mrs.) Parul Sharma advisee of Dr. P.D. Juyal presently Vice-Chancellor of Nanaji Deshmukh Veterinary Science University, Jabalpur is also pursuing Ph.D. programme in the University of Nottingham, United Kingdom.

The Vice-Chancellor of Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (GADVASU), Dr. A. S. Nanda, congratulated department for these achievements
