Dr Manish Kumar Chatli, Professor & Head, Department of Livestock Products Technology, GADVASU, Ludhiana has been felicitated as Fellow of Indian Association for the Advancement of Veterinary Research (IAAVR) in 16th Indian Veterinary Congress – 2016 held on 27th-28th February, 2016 at College of Veterinary Science, Orissa University of Agricultural Technology at Bhubaneswar. He has been awarded by Dr. Suresh S. Honnappagol, Animal Husbandry Commissioner, Govt. of India. IAAVR is a professional society, which includes different disciplines of veterinary sciences and affiliated to World Veterinary Association and Common Wealth Veterinary Association. The society has more than 1000 life members. It was a Silver Jubilee function of the society. Dr Manish Kumar Chatli also chaired one Technical Session on Animal Production and also acted as a Chairman of evaluation team of Oral research presentations in the same session. He has presented lead paper on Functional Foods and their regulations, which was highly appreciated. His research presentation on ‘biodegradable packaging systems for the extension of storage stability of livestock products’ fetched him ‘Best Oral presentation Award’ in the conference. The conference was attended by more than 200 scientists from India and abroad. Dr Chatli did a pioneering work in the development of biodegradable packaging materials from different byproducts of animal and plant industry. He has published 3 text books, 8 manuals and more than 100 research papers in the area of processing, preservation, packaging and quality evaluation of livestock products. He is a Founder Editor of Journal of Meat Science & Technology and member of editorial board of International Journal, Asian Australasian Journal of Animal Sciences. It is pertinent to mention that Department of Livestock Products Technology, GADVASU is also organising an International Conference and 7th Conference of Indian Meat Science Association (IMSACON-VII) from 10-12th November, 2016 at Ludhiana, which is expected to be attended by the academicians, entrepreneurs, industry personnals, ministry officials and students from all over India and abroad.
