National recognition to Vet Varsity Scientists

Dr. L. D. Singla, Professor, Department of Veterinary Parasitology, Guru Angad Dev Veterinary & Animal Sciences University, Ludhiana has been honoured with Smt. Nisha Mani Parija Oration Award-2014 by Indian Association for the Advancement of Veterinary Parasitology in recognition of his valuable contributions and achievements in the field of parasitic zoonoses.The prestigious award was presented to him at 25th National Congress of Veterinary Parasitology and National Symposium on “One Health Approach – Plausible Solution for Sustainable Parasite Control” held at Tamil Nadu Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, Chennai. During this conference, Dr Singla also presented Dr. D.P. Banerjee memorial oration award lecture in recognition of his valuable contributions and achievements in the field of Veterinary Protozoology for the year 2014 on “Molecular diagnostic approaches in determining current status of haemoprotozoan diseases in equines and bovines of Punjab state.” Dr. Singla acted as Jury member for Judgment of best poster awards and was elected Joined Secretary of the Association for the years 2016-18 during the conference.

Dr.N.K. Singh, Assistant Professor presented the research paper entitled Esterase profile in deltamethrin resistant Hyalomma anatolicum populations of western Punjab, India by Mranalini Prerna, N.K. Singh, Jyoti, Harkirat Singh and S.S. Rath. Presentation of Dr. Singh was adjudged as 2nd best in session II on “Chemotherapy, Ethnoveterinary drugs, Novel/Alternate techniques for sustainable control of parasites, Antiparasitic drug resistance”. The paper highlighted the involvement of carboxyl esterases in possible detoxification mechanism responsible for synthetic pyrethroid resistance in multi host cattle ticks from Punjab. Dr. Singh was elected Executive member of Indian Association for the Advancement of Veterinary Parasitology for the years 2016-18.

Dr.Harkirat Singh, Assistant Professor presented the research paper entitled Molecular characterization of partial carboxyl esterase gene in synthetic pyrethroid resistant Rhipicephalus Boophilus microplus populations of western Punjab by Mranalini Prerna, Harkirat Singh, Jyoti, N.K. Singh and S.S. Rath in the 34th Annual Convention of ISVM & National Symposium, held at GADVASU, Ludhiana. Presentation of Dr. Singh was adjudged as 2nd best in session II on “Biotechnology in Animal Health and Production of the conference.
