34th Annual Convention of Indian Society for Veterinary Medicine (ISVM) and National Symposium on “Newer Approaches in Diagnosis and Management of Animal Diseases for Sustainable Health and Production” being organized at the Department of Veterinary Medicine, Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (GADVASU), Ludhiana from February 17-19, 2016 enters 2nd day. A Conference Workshop on endoscopy for 40 practising clinicians and veterinarians representing different parts of the country was also organized on the sides of conference.
Different technical sessions on farm and companion animals were held in which renowned scientists across the country presented their findings for improved diagnosis and management of animal diseases. Besides, a separate session on alternative medicine was held in which treatment of animal diseases and improving productivity of animals through herbal formulations was discussed. Dr. Rajiv Singh, Dr. N.K. Sood and Dr. S.K. Uppal delivered keynote lectures. Dr. B.K. Bansal, Organizing Secretary told that the conference is being attended by approx. 500 scientists, academicians, researchers and postgraduate students. Dr. S.N.S. Randhawa, President ISVM & Director of Research, GADVASU lauded the efforts of the organizing team and emphasized that major challenges for sustainable health and production can only be addressed by re-orienting veterinary medicine education for fostering academic excellence, inculcating entrepreneurship in postgraduates and addressing key concerns in quality assurance. Dr. Amarjit Singh Nanda, the Vice-Chancellor of the university congratulated the organizing committee and anticipated that the conference deliberation will go a long way in
addressing the
challenges in livestock farming. Dr. Nanda appreciated the workshop arrangements on endoscopy and said that the conference workshop will prepare the young budding veterinarians as a part of skilled and professional veterinarians of the country. He said that the outcome of this conference will help authorities to formulate new and advanced policies for future planning. It will support our farming community to rear livestock in a batter manner and also help to decrease the economic and health losses due to diseases. New techniques in diagnosis like endoscopy, sonography and echocardiography will help veterinary fraternity to serve the masses in a better way.
