Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University,Ludhiana is striving his best to provide the advance services to the farmers through producing quality vets and then their continuous professional development. In the previous year, University has signed a memorandum with The University of Sydney for mutual collaboration. In the continuity of the same, Dr Hugh White, Director, Centre of continuing veterinary education, The University of Sydney, visited GADVASU. Dr White had a meeting with the Vice- Chancellor, GADVASU, Dr AS Nanda. The later stressed that the collaboration between University of Sydney and GADVASU will be further strengthened through student and faculty exchange programmes. Various future programmes and course of action for the betterment of student’s skills and faculty were discussed.
Dr White delivered a talk to the Faculty of GADVASU to aware about the importance of continuing education. Dr SNS Randhawa, in his welcomed address highlighted the brief work of Dr White and about the center of continuing veterinary education. Dr Randhawa also briefed about the research work university is doing. Dr Hugh in his presentation said that how the continuing professional education is needed for making better vets. Dr Hugh further revealed that this centre of continuing veterinary education is working for the upliftment of veterinarian since the last 50 years. He told that there is provision of free membership for academic and students and member have free access to e- library and vetbookshops. He also revealed bundle of training programmes, Centre of veterinary education organizing for vets like face to face seminar, webinar, hands on training, distance education, time online course.
Dr HK Verma, Director Extension Education, GADVASU stressed to formulate a program on newer tools of extension delivery for the veterinarians in a collaborative mode. Dr White visited other departments, visit of clinic, farms and a progressive dairy farmer of the Punjab. Earlier Australian High commission, New Delhi organized a meeting of Vice Chancellor, The University of Sydney with GADVASU Officials at Delhi. Dr SNS Randhawa, Director Research and DR JPS Gill, Director School of Public Health and Zoonosis, GADVASU attended this meeting. Dr AK Puniya, Dean, College of Dairy Science and Technology, GADVASU also graced the occasion. Dr Simrat Sagar Singh, Dean PGS, GADVASU revealed that University is also working on to establish its own center of continuing veterinary education at the University and this collaboration will be immense helpful in the establishing the so. Head of departments along with chairman of the extension committees attended the same.
