Under the flagship of Directorate of Extension Education, Guru Angad Dev Veterinary & Animal Sciences University (GADVASU), Ludhiana, monthly meeting of Pig Farmers Association of Punjab was held at GADVASU. The theme for the current monthly meeting was importance of trace minerals in the Pig Nutrition. Dr. Parminder Singh Chawla, Animal Nutritionists of Deptt. of Veterinary and Animal Husbandry Extension Education highlighted the use of trace minerals and apprised the farmers regarding the judicious use of such trace minerals for the better growth and improved production rates. Dr. Ashwani Kumar from Deptt. of Vety. Medicine discussed about the health issue to be taken care of during winter month. He advised farmers to follow proper vaccination and de-worming schedule during winters.
Dr. H. K. Verma, Director of Extension Education, GADVASU advised farmers about the importance of balanced feed in the enhanced production rates. He advised farmers to take care of their pigs especially in winter months. Dr. Verma informed that during March, 2016 “Pashu Palan Mela”, GADVASU will honour a progressive pig farmer with Chief Minister Award.
Dr. J.S.Hundal, Technical Co-ordinator of association informed that more than 75 pig farmer from different parts of Punjab participated in the meeting. Dr. Simrinder Singh Sodhi, DES thanked all the dignitaries and farmers present in the meeting. He informed that on last Thursday of every month meeting of Pig Farmer Association is held at the Directorate of Extension Education, GADVASU, Ludhiana.
