Dr Kirti Dua, who is working as Incharge Wild life Centre and Professor Veterinary Medicine at Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University has published a book on Animal Welfare, Ethics and Jurisprudence. The book provides salient facts and fundamentals of animal welfare ethics and Jurisprudence to veterinary students and practitioners in a simplified way. An effort has been made to publish a book, which will be very helpful for those engaged in field activities of animal welfare and jurisprudence. Dr Dua believes this book has come closer to attaining that goal.
It is his third text publication. His earlier, two published books on veterinary medicine and Veterinary ethics are prescribed not only in all the veterinary colleges of India but also in the neighboring countries.
Dr Dua, graduated from college of Veterinary Science, Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), in 1983. He was recipient of Indian Council of Agricultural fellowship in 1983 and enrolled as a postgraduate student in PAU where he was awarded MVSc degree in 1985. Following a short period in general practice he was appointed as Assistant Professor in the Department of Veterinary Medicine PAU, Ludhiana. In 1989 he was awarded commonwealth scholarship to pursue his Ph.D. degree in UK. In 2001 he was nominated by Government of India as an ITEC expert in large animal Veterinary Medicine to Mauritius. In 2007 he was nominated as Fellow of National Academy of Veterinary Sciences and 2011 Fellow of Indian Society of Veterinary Medicine for his contribution in the field of Veterinary Medicine. In 2008 he became Head, Department of Veterinary Medicine at GADVASU and in 2013 he became Incharge of Wild life centre of GADVASU. Sixteen postgraduate students did MVSc and PhD under his supervision.
