Vet Varsity inks MOU for Transfer of Milk Chilling Technology

Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, Ludhiana signed a Memorandum of Understanding with M/S Chadha Sales Pvt Ltd of Delhi today on the occasion of Pashu Palan Mela of Varsity. The MoU was for popularization and commercializing of Phase Changing Material based milk chilling technology. It was signed by Dr SNS Randhawa, Director of Research and the representative of the company in the presence of Dr A S Nanda, Vice-Chancellor and other officers of the University. The technology has been developed by Dr Amandeep Sharma, Assistant Professor (Dairy Engineering) under Rashitrya Krishi Vikas Yojana (RKVY) project for the benefit of marginal and small farmers which constitutes about 70% of the total milk producers of the state. He said that the developed technology would help maintaining the milk quality in milk supply chain right from the producer’s door, saves farmers time especially during evening hours as the milk would be safely stored overnight and could be delivered at morning hours. Director of Research, told that company agreed to pay the Rs.1,15,000/- as license fee, royalty and will also provide five machines free of cost to the university for its popularization amongst the farmers. Dr AK Puniya, Dean College Of Dairy Science and Technology, Dr Simart Sagar Singh, Dean PGS, Dr Sushil Prabhakar, Registrar, Dr H K Verma, Director, Extension Education, and Dr Asha Dhawan, Dean, College of Fisheries, and Dr S P S Sangha, DSW-cum-EO congratulated Dr Amandeep Sharma for his achievements. Dr Puniya also told that college is providing trainings to the interested milk producers, on value addition to milk. Director of Extension Education, Dr Verma told that such a MoU signed with the appropriate companies to disseminate the scientific knowledge, benefit farmers and society in large. Vice Chancellor told that technology would be helpful to the small and marginal milk producers to fetch better price for their produce and hope that the company would help the university in popularization and commercialization of the technology developed by the university scientist.
