Dr. P.D. Juyal, Registrar, Guru Angad Dev Veterinary & Animal Sciences University retired from university service after attaining superannuation. Dr. Juyal served in various capacities in different universities including, Punjab Agricultural University and GADVASU, Ludhiana for a period of about 34 years. Dr. Juyal joined as Associate Professor (Veterinary Parasitology) in PAU, Ludhiana in 1989 and served the department as a Professor as well as Head of the Department till his elevation to the post of Registrar GADVASU on20th May, 2010.
During his professional journey, Dr. Juyal significantly contributed in the field of Veterinary Parasitology. He presented
his work in several national and international conferences in India and abroad. He visited countries like UK, Japan and China for various scientific events. He has more than 200 publications to his credit. He is also the co-author of one Text book on Veterinary Parasitology and two reference books. Besides various other awards he was awarded jointly Dr. B.V. Rao Gold Medal for publication of best research article in Indian Veterinary Journal and Prof. V.S. Alwar Memorial award for article published in Journal of Veterinary Parasitology. As head of the department, he provided the professional leadership to the faculty, identified thrust areas, formulated and submitted research projects, generated funds, and created better teaching, research and extension infrastructure in the department.
A dedicated scientist, teacher and advisor Prof. Juyal guided four Ph.D. and eight Master’s students. He served as member of many decision making bodies at college, university, state, national and international level. He was the Chairman of Adhoc Indian Group of Non – Tse Tse Transmitted Animal Trypanosomosis OIE. He was a member of Project Review Committee, Uttarakhand Science and Technology department. He was on the panel as Standing Committee member AITVM (Association of Institutions of Tropical Veterinary Medicine), Netherlands. As an administrator he brought several administrative reforms to improve the service conditions and academic activities of the university and its constituent colleges.
Customary farewell functions were organized in respect of Dr. Juyal by Guru Angad Dev Veterinary & Animal Sciences University teachers association (GADVASUTA) ,department of Veterinary Parasitology and non-teaching association. Dr. V.K. Gandotra, President, GADVASUTA appreciated his administrative skills. Dr. Juyal was honored for his professional and administrative achievements. Dr S.P.S. Sangha DSW cum estate officer lauded the contributions made by Dr Juyal. On this occasion Deans, directors, heads of departments and a large number of faculty members of university participated in farewell functions.
