World Blood Donor Day by NSS Cell of Vet Varsity

NSS volunteers of Guru Angad Dev Veterinary & Animal Sciences University (Guru Angad Dev Veterinary & Animal Sciences University) took part in the observance of World Blood Donor Day on under the supervision of Dr Syed Shabih Hassan, NSS Programme Coordinator. Dr Hassan delivered a lecture on the topic “Save Blood for Saving Mothers” and diligently motivated to NSS volunteers. He briefed about the features and importance in helping to protect people in conflict, protect people in emergencies, pregnant mother, provide emergency response, first aid services, social care, prevent or alleviate sufferings from chronic diseases, thalassemic children, health disorder and enhance human dignity, unity, humanity in the society. NSS Cell of GADVASU is working very actively to create awareness in promoting blood donation deeds and organize more blood donation camp in the city and encouraging NGOs/organizations and residential societies to organize camp in their vicinity. Dr Hassan highlighted do`s and don`ts and its importance that a simple act of blood donation can save up to three lives during the occasion. He emphasized on the feelings of healthy social life and extended possible blood donation in many ways so that lives of human beings can be saved. He focused on the human lives and association with the human beings and maintenance of healthy social interactions. He informed on the objectives of donating blood and morality behind donation as also the benefits to both the donor and the beneficiary. He said that during many situations patients need blood transfusion and blood donation is a supreme and 
noble service to the mankind. He emphasized on the sense of responsibility among the students and need of active participation in donating blood. Celebration of World Blood Donor Day is a learning experience for the volunteers/students who were instructed to encourage neighboring resident to donate blood on the special occasions and care mothers, thalassemic children and other patients in hospital as well.
