130 NSS volunteers/students of Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, Ludhiana from three colleges viz. College of Fisheries (COF), College of Dairy Science and Technology (CODST), GADVASU and affiliated college, Khalsa College of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (KCVAS), Amritsar geared up in warm hospitality works to contingent of different states approximately 5000 in number during 18th National Youth Festival-2014 held at PAU campus, Ludhiana. Dr Syed Shabih Hassan, NSS Programme Coordinator, GADVASU, said that all members interacted with state contingent from different states viz; Arunachal Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Bihar, Chandigarh, Chhattisgarh, Dadra & Nagar Haveli, Daman & Diu, Delhi, Goa, Gujrat, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Jharkhand, Jammu & Kashmir, Karnataka, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Orissa, Punjab, Puducherry, Rajasthan, Sikkim, Tamil Nadu, Tripura, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and West Bengal. Volunteers performed duties day and night to made the 18th National Youth Festival-2014 programme successful.
40 volunteers performed their shift-wise duty at Ludhiana railway station, 20 on Ludhiana bus stand to receive state contingent, guests and VIPs in the areas >where their stay has been allotted as in Parker Guest House, GADVASU hostels, PAU hostels, Kairon Kisan Ghar and some leading hotels in Ludhiana. 20 volunteers involved in sending the buses from Food Court area of PAU and providing best possible amenities and welfare. Ten volunteers serviced at registration counter and announcements for the welfare of members. 10 volunteers mostly girls were involved in decoration of different stages where inaugural, folk dances, competitive, non-competitive events performed. Volunteers also catered inside food court area for proper management and hospitality.
30 volunteers were involved in NSS Suvichar and Youth Convention-2014 NSS volunteers of GADVASU got acquainted with cultural diversity of India and thus more memorable day ceased knitting more memories and adding more experiences. They participated in March past with dance and colourful performances during inaugural function of 18th National Youth Festival-2014. Youth Services Punjab officials and Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports officials appreciated work done by GADVASU NSS volunteers during different days of 18th National Youth Festival-2014. They also hoped that NSS volunteers will work towards social, community welfare and upliftment of the society.
