Five NSS volunteers of Guru Angad Dev Veterinary & Animal Sciences University participated in the North-Zone NSS Pre-Republic Day Parade Camp-2013 at Shaheed Udham Singh College of Engineering and Technology, Tangori, Mohali (Punjab). Balwinder Singh (College of Fisheries), Ash ishpal Singh, Harmanpreet Singh and Navreet Singh (College of Dairy Science and Technology) and Harmandeep Singh of Khalsa College of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Amritsar attended the camp in which 200 NSS volunteers from seven states viz; Punjab, Rajasthan, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, Delhi and Chandigarh (UT) participated. Camp Director Gurdeep Singh Bhatti, Deputy Programme Advisor, NSS RC, Chandigarh (UT) provided able guidance. Dr Syed Shabih Hassan, NSS Programme Coordinator, GADVASU guided Punjab state NSS volunteers as contingent leader during the rigorous training.
The Pre-RD Parade Camp began with Prabhat Pheri organised by the NSS volunteers followed by morning assembly, NSS song, national anthem and physical exercise. NSS volunteers took part in hospitality assignment on different day of the camp involving volunteers of different state one by one. The parade practice training to NSS volunteers was provided by the four instructor of Punjab Armed Police. Volunteers also participated in four academic sessions on the topic “Drug deaddiction”, “Wetland values and functions”, “Female foeticide” and “Cancer awareness” were conducted during Camp by inviting guest speakers. A cultural night was organised by the NSS volunteers of Punjab state having varieties in performances. Chief guest of the function Dr Rajnish Arora, Vice-Chancellor, Punjab Technical University emphasized volunteers for inculcating good moral values, more competitive in life and good wishes for selection in RD camp at Delhi.
