The 21 days training course on male infertility organized by Centre of Advanced Faculty Training (CAFT) in Department of Veterinary Gynaecology and Reproduction, Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (GADVASU), Ludhiana, under the auspices of Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), New Delhi concluded here. The valedictory function was attended by Dr SNS Randhawa, Dean PGS cum Director Research and Dr R S Sahota, Director of Extension. Dr P S Brar, Course Director and Head of Department, informed that 19 faculty members from Universities and ICAR institutes of eight states of India participated in this course. Dr Brar informed that the participants were trained with hands-on experiences on diagnosing and treating male infertility in cattle, buffaloes, equine, caprine, swine and canines and for production of quality embryos. Dr Ajeet Kumar and Dr Dinesh Daderwal were course coordinators. An interactive workshop organized by Mr Inderjeet Mittal, master trainer with Govt of India, on positive thinking and teaching methods was highly appreciated by participants. Expert for lectures on wild animals, canines were invited from Bombay and Hyderabad
A three time member of parliament from Lakhimpur, presently working as Associate professor in Assam Agricultural University Khanapara, Dr A K Sarma, revealed his identity to Dr P S Brar only on last day. For all 21 days he lived in a non AC room on sharing basis, and had simple meals with other participants which was appreciated by all.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Randhawa lauded the efforts of CAFT Centre, and urged the participants to write good research projects based on their learning in training course. He informed about the funding agencies where such research projects can be submitted for funding.Dr Sahota talked about goof ups which affect dissemination of knowledge from lab to farmer in his witty ways. The ecstatic participants shared their experiences about the course and expressed their gratitude to the CAFT Centre faculty for instilling in them the spirit and zeal to use cutting edge technologies. The course ended amidst loud applauds as the participants, kindled with a spark to rise and make a difference. Dr VK Gandotra, Professor, thanked all for their support in organizing the course.
