26th National level advanced training course on “Cutting Edge Technologies in Diagnostic and Surgical Procedures for Veterinary Practice” by Department of Veterinary Surgery and Radiology of Guru Angad Dev Veterinary & Animal Sciences University Ludhiana has been started under the aegis of Center of Advanced Faculty Training (CAFT)
Dr N.S. Saini, Director CAFT and Professor-cum-Head of the Department informed that twenty scientists / teachers are participating in this three week training course. Hands on training will be provided to the participants on the latest techniques of anesthesia, surgery and diagnostic imaging in veterinary practice like large animal fracture patients, bone plating in small and large animals, surgery of persistent right aortic arch in dogs, gas anesthesia, surgical management of reticular diaphragmatic hernia in cows and buffaloes, interlocking nailing in small, laparoscopy, urolithiasis in dogs and cattle and computerized radiography, ultrasonographic and ultrasound guided biopsy procedures for small and large animal patients. Lectures on various surgical and diagnostic techniques will be organized. The faculty members and experts from other state universities such as Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh, J&K and UP have been invited to deliver lectures and practical demonstration during the training programme.
Dr. SNS Randhawa, Director Research acted as chief guest and inaugurated the training programme. Dr. Randhawa congratulated the faculty members for organizing big event and encouraged the faculty for the excellent work being done in the fields of Veterinary Surgery and Radiology. Dr. Randhawa further informed that the Centre of Advanced Studies was established in the department of Surgery and Radiology in the year 1994. In 2009 the centre was renamed as Centre of Advanced Faculty Training by the ICAR.
Dr. H.S. Sandhu, Dean, College of veterinary Science was guest of honor on this function informed that till date the department has conducted 25 advanced training courses on various topics and over 320 Surgeons/Clinicians from various State Veterinary Universities/ State Agricultural Universities/ICAR Institutes have been trained.
Dr Simrat Sagar Singh, Professor, proposed vote of thanks to all for attending this function and informed that a compendium of lectures and presentations of the experts is compiled for the ready reference of the participants.
