GADVASU Scientist on European Expert Panel on Vaccines

Dr. Hari Mohan Saxena, Professor of Immunology at Guru Angad Dev Veterinary & Animal Sciences University, Ludhiana has been appointed a Member of the Expert Panel on Vaccines of the European Society for Translational Medicine which is a global non-profit platform for the advancement and progress of Translational Medicine.

The society facilitates cooperation and interaction among clinicians, scientists, academia, industry, governments, funding and regulatory agencies, investors and policy makers to develop and deliver high quality translational medicine programs and initiatives to enhance global health. The society promotes research and development of novel and affordable diagnostic tools and treatments for the diseases affecting the global population. The panel will expand the society’s efforts into the area of vaccine research and development and will inform the global professional community about the latest developments concerning vaccines and will be instrumental in decisions concerning the organization of related events.

Dr. Saxena is the Principal Investigator of a UGC funded project aimed at developing a new bacteriophage based vaccine for Hemorrhagic Septicemia, an important infectious disease of cattle and buffaloes which causes huge economic losses in livestock sector. He was also the PI of the first project funded by the Department of Biotechnology (DBT) of the Govt. of India at GADVASU on identification of the molecular target of the virus causing Infectious Bursal Disease (IBD) in chickens.

Dr. Saxena has been conferred with the Award for Excellence in Research by the Education Expo TV in the Faculty Branding Awards 2013 function held in Kolkata and was bestowed with Lifetime Education Excellence Award and Medal by the Business Development Association of India at New Delhi recently.
